Round 4 of the Junior Division 2 Team was played on Sunday 29th May at the Willunga Golf Course against The Country Districts Team. The course was in good condition, and despite the weather forecast the rain held off for the day, and we were able to play in sunshine.

This week’s team consisted of Elyse Kozlovic – Captain, Billy White, Mason Holden, Reid Scott, Nate Yuan and Reserve Tayan Scott. All our players had to give shots to their opponents. The team hit off on the 10th tee to play the back 9 first.

Elyse Kozlovic first tee shot missed the fairway to land on the 9th fairway, and she lost the first hole. This was the only hole she lost for the entire match. She won the second hole to be square and continued to play consistently, with a par and a birdie on the first 9 holes to be 2 up at the turn. Full of confidence, she won the next 4 holes to a convincing win of 6/5. Our first win of the day. An outstanding effort Elyse.

Nate Yuan was playing his second game of the season.  His first tee shot found the trees and he lost the first hole; however, this was the only hole that he lost for his match. A brilliant tee shot on the 16th par 3, over the valley, around the trees and the bunker to land on the green a metre from the hole, saw him just miss the birdie putt to make a par to be 2 up. He played a solid game and was 4 up after 9 holes. He then went on to win 3 out of the next 5 holes to win his match 6/4. A great game Nate, congratulations, 2 matches and 2 wins.

Reid Scott played solid golf on the first 9 holes. An exacting tee shot on the par 3 16th hole, with a 2-putt par resulted in him being 1 up at the turn. The water hazards on the next few holes were enticing to Reid’s ball and his opponent kept out of trouble. Reid squared three of the next 7 holes, however, lost his match 3/2. A good effort Reid. This has been Reid’s only loss this season.

Mason Holden played steadily all day. He won three holes in a row on the front 9 including a great par on the par 3 16th hole and was 2 up at the turn. A par on the second hole and wins on holes 4 and 6, had him at 2 up with 3 holes to go. On the 8th hole, a long par 4 his third shot landed on the green with a 2 metre putt, he narrowly missed the par putt but he squared the hole to win 2/1. Our third win of the day. Congratulations Mason, a hard-fought win.

Billy White was evenly matched with his opponent and although he played well, having to give 11 shots was a hard task. He was 3 down after 10 holes.  He then won three holes in a row including a par on the third hole par 3 and was square after the 7th hole. A brilliant par on the 8th hole had him 1 up coming down the 9th. His opponent’s tee shot found the trees, and Billy put his head down and every shot was where he intended it to be. He won the last hole to win 2 up. A fantastic win, Billy. Well done. Our fourth win of the day.

The result was a 4/1 win for The Grange team against The Country Districts Team. Congratulations to The Grange team, their 3rd win out of 4 games this season. This win moved The Grange to 2nd place on the ladder from 3rd place last week.

Thank you to the parents and caddies who supported the team.
