Van Der Veen Designs and the Committee at The Grange Golf Club are pleased to present you with the master plan for the enhancement of the Practice Area.  We have focused on improving the shot making value, interest, diversity, direction of play conditioning, traffic flow, and all-weather access.

You will find an easily accessible synthetic hitting mat at the rear of the tee that orients you more in the direction of the longest part of the range.  We have focused on the shorter and mid iron shots by providing two larger raised formations to hit to that will have multiple flags at varying distances.  These flags will feel more like individual pin positions on a typical green at The Grange.

The targets in the foreground will be raised and slope in from the right and the left to assist the golfer in focusing their longer iron shots or drives down the centre of the range.  The distance between those foreground targets is that of a typical fairway width, leading you up to a larger target green flanked with a bunker.  This target green and bunker at +200m is an exact scale replica of what the golfer will experience on the golf course.

The exciting new short game area will provide space for multiple players and a plethora of shot types to practice.  These will include greenside bunker shots of varying difficulty and depth, along with an area to practice a fairway bunker shot about 150m out to the realistic sized target green in the range.  A larger green than the previous model will have more usable space to provide more movement of pins and varying slopes to practice holding shots on the green surface.  The majority of the surrounding turf areas will be santa ana couch cut at surrounds height which is so prevalent here at The Grange.  This will allow the golfer to practice multiple club selections depending on your skill level.

The putting green area will be enlarged slightly and remodelled to better handle traffic.  A new concrete path will be provided to shuttle golfers from near the 10th East tee or clubhouse area without having to move through the car park.
