Thursday 24 September 2020 at Blackwood Golf Club

After the first leg of the Challenge held at The Grange on 13 August, the team were looking forward to heading up to Blackwood for the deciding matches of the 2020 competition.

The temperature was lucky to reach 5 degrees during the morning but the players were keen, all rugged up and ready to do battle.  The Grange team were the same members that won convincingly at Grange: single match players – Deb Underwood, Steph Murdock, Sandra Clark and Onna O’Rourke, with Trudi McNamara and Eira Dixon playing the Foursomes.

At the start of the day The Grange only needed to draw one match to retain the trophy.  It wasn’t our day and the Blackwood team did the reverse that Grange did on their home course, and won all matches.

Looking back through history, this is the first year since 2000 the results were 5 matches each, giving each team 10 points. It was disappointing not to have had a result but the competition is played in such good spirit between the two clubs that both teams accepted the draw and shared the Challenge in 2020.

A big thank you to the six Grange players for being members of the team and representing the Club in 2020.
