PRESIDENT’S AND CAPTAIN’S HANDICAP FOURSOMES

Originally conducted in the same format at The Laurel Wreath in a drawn event.

Up until 1992, players competed for The President’s and Captain’s Trophies with Stableford rounds. In 1993, the trophies were transferred to The Handicap Foursomes – President’s on The West Course and Captain’s on The East Course.

In 1996, responding to difficulties experienced in organising knockout matches, it was decided to take the best 8 nett scores from the first round on each course to qualify for the match play.

The Shylie Rymill Foursomes were incorporated with the first round in 1997 and then from 2005. Named in memory of Mrs H L Rymill (nee Shylie Blue) who together with Miss Ethel Wyatt was responsible for the formation of the South Australian Ladies Golf Union (now Women’s Golf in South Australia).
