Applicable from 10th June 2017

The Committee of The Grange Golf Club Inc have, over a long period of time, attempted to maintain a progressive and modern approach with respect to Dress Standards at the Club.  Our current policy, whereby players must wear a collared shirt tucked in at all times unless designed to be worn untucked has, unfortunately, been extremely difficult to control.

There have been an increasing number of arguments and disagreements between certain members, and guests, with both Pro-Shop and Club Management, as to what constitutes a shirt that has been “designed to be worn untucked” and the belief that if the shirt has a “v” slit on each side then that shirt is acceptable. This is totally incorrect and quite a number of members and guests are wearing shirts that hang down past their buttocks with the belief that because the shirt has a “v” slit, it is acceptable. These longer shirts look untidy and certainly do not conform to acceptable dress standards at The Grange Golf Club.

In addition, as part of the Strategic Plan of The Grange Golf Club, titled Destination 2020, one of our key initiatives/goals contained therein is to “maintain and attract reciprocal club relationships of the highest calibre.”  Without exception, the high calibre golf clubs in Australia that we are seeking to approach for a reciprocal relationship have stricter dress codes with respect to male playing members, with all such members required to have their collared shirts tucked in at all times.  In essence, your Committee believes that if we wish to attract reciprocal relationships with the best clubs in Australia then the “untidy” current policy needed to be reviewed.

Hence, as from Saturday 10th June 2017, the Dress Code that will apply for males will be as follows:

Male players must wear a collared shirt TUCKED IN at all times on the golf course and practice facilities.

At this point we would also like to remind members that cargo shorts & pants are not permitted on the golf course, for those wearing shorts, short socks which are predominantly white are the only acceptable sock permitted. Dark coloured short socks are definitely not permitted.

We do however still wish for our members and their guests to enjoy our hospitality facilities in a more relaxed manner and therefore, within the clubhouse, our current “smart casual” policy will continue to apply.  However, with respect to footwear, for those wishing to wear footwear without socks then only the following will be acceptable within the clubhouse:

Boat Shoes, and Sandals with a rear strap, are permitted.

We further wish to advise that this new policy will be strictly adhered to and policed initially by Pro Shop Staff, Management and the Course Marshall.  Note that these people are all empowered by your Committee to implement these changes so the acceptance of their directions regarding acceptable dress code is expected from every member.

Your Committee trust you understand the reasons for this change in policy, we look forward to your cooperation in implementation of same and to your assistance in achieving our Strategic Plan Vision to be the Premier Golfing Facility in South Australia.
