2024 McMillan Shield champions – The Vines Golf Club of Reynella
Congratulations to The Vines Golf Club of Reynella for taking out the 2024 McMillan Shield competition.
The team from The Vines had a flawless season to sit atop the ladder undefeated at the end of round 6 at Thaxted Park Golf Club. Royal Adelaide Golf Club was sitting 2nd on 5 wins and 1 loss, and had an opportunity to steal the title from The Vines in a final round shootout, which was scheduled to be played at The Grange on the weekend.
Unfortunately for the Royal Adelaide squad, the weather gods weren’t kind and the late season, long weekend heatwave that hit Adelaide saw the final round cancelled as per the competition’s hot weather policy, leaving The Vines with the spoils of victory for 2024.
Thank you to all of the juniors who competed in the 2024 McMillan Shield competition, and a special thank you to all of the parents and volunteers at each of the competing clubs who have assisted in making the competition happen again this year. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2025 for another season of McMillan Shield.
