Bunkers

Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints and then leave the rake in the base of the bunker parallel with the direction of play on the hole.

• Always enter the bunker at the lowest point.
• Pull rake toward you as you exit the bunker.
• If required rake other affected areas.
• Do not pile sand at the edge of the bunker. Flip the rake and push excess sand back using the top of the rake.
• Always leave rake in the flat of the bunker facing the direction of play on the hole.

Repairing Divots

Through the green (fairways and rough), players should fill all divots with sand. Occasionally, it may be necessary to knock in the side of the divot with an iron. The sand should always be smoothed. Players are encouraged to fill in other divots in the vicinity of their ball.

• Remove any loose turf from the affected area.
• Knock in all sides of the edge of the divot.
• Correctly mend divot.
• Pour sand over the divot and using your club or shoe to level the area.

Damage Through Practice Swings

In taking practice swings, players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly on tees. Any damage should be repaired as required.

Ball Pitch Marks on Greens

Players should ensure that any damage to the putting green made by the ball or by the player is carefully repaired.

If time permits, players are encouraged to repair any other pitch marks they observe.

• Always start at the back of the mark and push forward with the repairer.
• Use repairer around all sides and slowly ease turf toward the centre of the mark. Do not lift the soil upwards.
• Lightly tap down with putter.

Damage to Greens – Flagsticks, Bags, Buggies etc.

Players should ensure that, when putting down bags or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green, and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.

Players must observe all signs related to movement around greens.
