After a good win last week, what a thrill to be playing in the Semi Finals. Our A3 Women headed to West Lakes for the match against Glenelg to see which team would progress to the Grand Final.

The hospitality of the host club women’s committee was exemplary and had welcomed the visiting teams with a tea and coffee station and home-made biscuits and fruit. Once again, the weather was perfect for golf, and we were ready and up for the challenge to take us one more step in the competition.

The match against Glenelg was once again too close to call until the last game played.

Rachel Arnott obviously wanted to end her game quickly against Jo Rawson and had a convincing win 7&6 – well played Rachel. Sue Olsen had a battle with Fiona Eblem and couldn’t quite get her game going, losing 3&2. Louise Faint started strongly against Wendy Featherston, who fought back but couldn’t quite catch Louise, who won 2 up. Teresa Batley’s opponent Jacky Burke had built a four-shot lead on the front nine but Teresa chipped her way back to lose only 1 down – a credible fight back.

The last match still being played between Sue Dob and Cathy Symons ended up being the decider for the Grand Final position. Sue won the 17th to take her to 1 up, then heading up the 18th with a couple of nice shots tee to green, Sue ended up winning 2 up and clinched the win for Grange – 3 matches to 2.

A big congratulations to the team, a great effort to gain a spot in the A3 Grand Final.

Our caddies John Bannister, Ann Schaefer, Paul Thomas, Deb Underwood and David Murray did a great job as always. Big thanks also to the Grange members who came out to support the team.

Joining other Grange teams, it is wonderful to be heading to the Grand Final. The match against West Lakes on Monday, 27th April will be played at Aston Hills. First tee is from 8.00am and if anyone is keen for a day out of the city, the team would love your support.
