Bonnar Cup was held at Kooyonga for Round 6, the penultimate round before finals begin.

We faced the bottom-placed side on the ladder, Thaxted Park. The objective for the day, if we could achieve it, was to push for a 7–0 result, knowing Thaxted were not at full strength.

First off at number 7, playing his first game of the season, was Gianni Decocco. A very solid and straight-hitting player with a strong record last season, Gianni got us off to a great start, winning his match 3&2.

Ryan Sugars, playing at #6, had a day out, almost disappointing himself by winning too well, 7&5. In his words, he didn’t get to play the best five-hole stretch on the course.

Michael Coleman, at #5, was chasing a win in his third game of the season after a short break from the team. He didn’t disappoint, winning 2&1. It was an important result at the time, helping maintain momentum with four wins already on the board.

At #4, Patrick Brind continued his strong and consistent form this season, comfortably winning 6&5 and also missing the final few holes.

At #3 was Nick Thompson, who faced a tough opponent in the Thaxted Park manager. Nick trailed for much of the round but showed tremendous grit and composure, finishing strongly over the closing holes to secure a 3&1 win. His performance earned him Best Player on the Day — his second consecutive award — highlighting his versatility and ability to perform up the order.

Playing at #2 was our team doctor, Mark Inglis. A powerful hitter capable of making plenty of birdies, Mark mixed in a few wayward shots but ultimately got the job done with a solid 5&4 win.

Finally, at #1, Colin Coleman played in the top position for the first time this season. A consistently straight ball-striker, Colin dominated his match 8&6, narrowly missing out on Best Player honours.

Achieving our goal, the team secured a dominant 7–0 victory.

This result cements top spot on the ladder with one regular season match remaining against The Vines at Glenelg. With our opponents sitting second from bottom, the team is well placed heading into finals if we can carry this form into next weekend.
