After hopefully being inspired by the Australian Women’s Open over the weekend, the A3 team headed for the hills in the dark to play against Mount Osmond at Mount Osmond. Even though it was a wet, drizzly day, there was no wind to speak of, which was a bonus for the players.

After more than one player made a meal of their tee shot on the 1st, all players settled into the sloping fairways of the hilly course.

Sue Dob fought back to be square with her opponent, Lara Reid, at the turn but was unable to overcome the home advantage and went down 3&1. Sue Olson had a secret weapon in local caddie Nigel, who gave her great assistance on the greens in her match against Shauna Siostrom to win 2&1. Louise Faint was keen and focused against Bec Bergamin and came home with a good 3&2 win. Teresa Batley had a super tussle with Sally Attrill and played strongly, but Sally fought back over the last few holes and the game finished square. Tracey Moody held her opponent, Belinda Dawson, square on the front nine but could not win a few crucial holes and went down 3&1.

The team was disappointed not to win outright, but a draw, 2.5 to 2.5, is much better than a loss.

Caddies Deb, Nigel, Paul, Jo and Lou G were once again super team members. Thank you for getting up to Mount Osmond in the dark to come and support us.

Next week, we are back on the plains, playing at Glenelg Golf Club. Our opponent is West Lakes, who after Round 2 have the same points as us, a match we are looking forward to.
