The Hickory team arrived at The Vines full of determination, eager to put their skills to the test against Blackwood. It was fantastic to see so many enthusiastic new members and first-time players step up to represent The Grange Hickory team.
With an early start and dreary weather setting the tone, umbrellas were up from the first tee to the last. The conditions brought back memories of wet pennant days from years gone by and provided a fitting initiation for our newest recruits, who experienced firsthand the cold and damp conditions our team has battled through in the past.
This week, our handicaps meant we conceded a total of six strokes across five players. Despite the challenge, two of our newcomers delivered impressive wins in their debut Hickory matches. The contest remained tight all day, with Blackwood ultimately taking the win three matches to two.
We look forward to regrouping and coming back stronger next week as we chase our first victory of the season.
