The Grange Sanderson team launched their season on Sunday with their first match against Glenelg at Royal Adelaide. Under bright, sunny skies, the team stood out in their sharp new green and white uniforms, ready to make their mark.
The opening stages of the match were sluggish. A delayed tee start and a slow pace through the front nine meant the team took some time to settle. Early scores saw Steph square, Elyse commanding with a 5-up lead, Mia trailing by four, Caitlin two down, and Lou holding steady at square. However, as they rounded the turn, the energy shifted noticeably. Lou surged ahead, leading by three after the 13th, Caitlin was four down, Mia closed the gap to two down, Elyse maintained her 5-up advantage, and Steph edged ahead by one.
By the 16th, all remaining matches were tight, with team members winning consecutive holes. Caitlin headed down the 18th locked in a final-hole tussle.
With The Grange’s loyal supporters rallying behind them, the team’s momentum grew, culminating in a hard-fought victory. The atmosphere was electric as the crowd gathered and every match finished tightly contested right to the end.
Congratulations to the Sanderson team for kicking off the season with determination and spirit, securing three wins from five matches, a fantastic start demonstrating true grit and teamwork.
