We are excited to introduce our new Course Foreman Lachy Starr.  Lachy was promoted to our 3IC last month after joining the Grange green keeping team in November 2015 as an apprentice, before being elevated to a senior greenkeeper in September 2020.  Lachy has his certificate III in Sports Turf and is a much loved and valuable member of the Grange family.  Not only is he a good greenkeeper but he also competes at a National level for surf lifesaving.  We would like to take this opportunity to share some information on Lachy.

What attracted you to work at The Grange Golf Club?
My love of being outdoors and working with my hands.

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?
Working in nature.  I love working outdoors and in such a beautiful environment.  Working with such a fun different crew and making new relationships.

And the least enjoyable?
Working the morning after the work Christmas party.

What is your favourite hole on the course?
The 15th West, I love standing on the highest point on the course and looking down the fairway.

Where was your favourite vacation/holiday?
Krui, South Sumatra on a surf trip with my mates was epico! Eating authentic Indonesian food, surfing perfect uncrowded waves, and buying fireworks off a local and his 8 year old son….

Describe yourself in three words.
Loyal, friendly and adventurous.

What was your worst ever job?
Brick layers labourer when I finished school.  The boss used to tell me my parents wasted money on my private education because I was working for him.

Dead or alive, who would you most like to meet?
John John Florence.

If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be?
An electrician or a carpenter.
