Legacy Golf Day (Ambrose Competition) Friday 2 July 2021 – the “wash up”
After missing the event last year because of COVID restrictions we were delighted that our previous sponsors and some new returned to make 2021 a record year on all counts. We had 143 players and raised $7,000 for Legacy. The winning team of Gary Keith, Sam Peake, David Fox and Elliot Keith with a fantastic score of 56.25 are Grange’s representatives at the Glenelg Governors Legacy Golf Day on 27/8/2021.
With memories of our last year in 2019, when we experienced the worst weather conditions in our 18th year history of the event, we woke up on the morning this year to a weather forecast that looked even bleaker than 2 years ago. The Legacy weather Gods however were on our side and all was good.
With a miserable morning to prepare for the uncertainty of the day, the 10:30am BBQ prepared by Bob Bates and team with product from Foodland West Lakes Shore, Unique Foods, Coopers, Fleurieu Milk and Coca Cola Europacific Partners we were off to a “belter”. A 1200 shotgun start and two refreshment carts as supply reinforcement, we were off to finish some five hours later, upstairs in the warmth of the Club House for a raffle fund raising thank’s to Andy Dewar’s team and the trophy presentations. We were privileged to have Graeme Ingerson, a Board member of Legacy to explain Legacy’s needs and thus, appreciation for the support our day provides.
Thanks are offered again to the Club through Barry Linke, Simon Andrew, Charlotte Godlevsky, Mel Wundersitz, and their respective staffs and the Pro Shop through Warren and team, and of course Rowan, Course Superintendent to give us such a great venue to play on and enjoy all the facilities available to us.
Thanks to the other valued sponsors, City Mazda Hindmarsh, Blackwell Funerals, Lakes Resort Hotel, Bent Creek Wineries, Terry White Chemmart West Lakes Shore, Four Play, AHT Group, Duratec Australia, Colorbond, Southgate Paediatric, AWS, Clipsal, Design Build Australia, Graeme Bryce-Cost Manager, Michael Grear Surveys. I also thank my other hard working Committee members, John Grinter and Greg Donnell.
