The Sandhill Greenhood Orchid (Pterostylis arenicola) is of particular interest to The Grange Golf Club and the wider conservation community as it is listed as endangered and nationally threatened.  The orchid can be found in two places; Tailem Bend and the Pinery between the 13th at The Grange Golf Club.

The growing number of orchids can be put down to the monumental effort of The Grange Golf Club to keep the Pinery protected and restricted to members, we are also assisted by the Native Orchid Society, The Threatened Plant Action Group and the Natural Resources Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges in keeping the rare orchid safe.

In recent weeks the Orchids have begun dying back and will soon disappear for another year until we begin to see them grow again in around September.

The ground staff group are very proud of the fact that we accommodate such an endangered species here at the Club and we hope that along with the wider conservation community our members can also share the pride we feel in playing our part in environmental protection and sustainability.
