In the last round of the season, all teams were playing for positions – to finish top, make the finals, or avoid relegation. Results were unexpected, with bottom teams beating top teams, and a fabulous outcome for The Grange team, securing a spot in the Second vs Third Playoff for the chance to play in the Grand Final.

The Grange West Course was a picture and a credit to the Grounds staff for preparing the course for the competition. We were up against Royal Adelaide, with both teams vying for that sought-after third position to advance to the finals.

Even with home advantage, the pin positions, especially on the back nine, made the competition a challenge for all players. Rachel Arnott played a steady game against Marianne Stoettrup — neck and neck until the back nine, where Rachel took the lead to record a good 4&3 win. Sue Dob was up against Pauline Morrison, who was enjoying putting on the Grange greens. Sue started strongly, fell behind to two down after the 16th, but rallied to win the last two holes and square the match — a good fightback. Sue Olsen kept her advantage over Anne Ellis throughout the match. It may have only been one up most of the time, but Sue came home well with a 4&2 win. Teresa Batley was behind her opponent, Anne Arnfield, all morning, but held on and caught her on the 18th to square her game — well done, Teresa. Louise Faint held onto her determination in her match with Sarah Chia. After being three down on the back nine, Lou came home with a super 2 up win.

Congratulations team. With not a negative individual match result, we won 4 to 1 on the scorecard to take us into the playoff.

A big thank you to our caddies John Bannister, Ann Schaefer, Paul Thomas, Jo Fehervari and Deb Underwood for their encouragement and support. Not to be forgotten, the cheer squad — Jess, Sharyn and Lee — thank you.

The team members are all ‘keen as mustard’ and looking forward to playing Glenelg in the playoff at West Lakes next Monday. For anyone who would like to come and support, we hit off at 8.00am.

To the team ……… ‘You’ve got this!’
