The Grange Junior Division 2 team were treated to perfect weather at Kooyonga on Sunday for their match against Royal Adelaide. It was a very tight contest right to the very end, but we just couldn’t get it over the line. There was plenty to learn from the day and I’m confident the lessons taken from these matches will only make us stronger. Playing smart, strategic golf is key and this experience will serve the team well moving forward.

Ted – No. 1
Ted has firmly cemented his position as our number one player. His positive attitude and leadership make him a fantastic role model. After falling behind early, Ted fought his way back to just one down heading into the 17th. Unfortunately, a drive that landed in a large divot proved costly. Full credit to Ted for his determination and resilience – he never stopped competing. His match finished with a 2-1 loss.

Tyler – No. 2
Tyler continues to be a strong presence at the top of our order, consistently producing high-quality golf. Up against a more experienced opponent, he found himself three down early but showed great composure to fight back to just one down on the 17th. That hole proved decisive, with his ball plugging in the back bunker—an extremely difficult position. Despite his best efforts, Tyler went down 2-1.

Claire – No. 3
Despite not feeling well, Claire showed tremendous determination to take her place in the team. She struggled early and was below her usual standard, but true to her nature, she refused to give in. After the 7th hole, she turned her match around in impressive fashion. Playing with her trademark “take no prisoners” mindset, Claire produced some outstanding golf to secure a strong 4-3 win.

Ishana – No. 4
Making her debut for the team, Ishana faced a seasoned pennant player and showed great courage. After being five down at the turn, she dug deep and fought back to two down, which was an exceptional effort. Ishana showed great promise and will be a valuable member of this team in the future. She eventually went down 3-2.

Kianu – No. 5
Kianu continues to be the rock at the bottom of our order. Reliable and composed, he is growing in both confidence and ability each week. His iron play was particularly impressive, and he took control of his match early, never letting go. Kianu secured a convincing 6-5 win and has well and truly cemented his place in the team.

Although we didn’t come away with the points this week, the team gained invaluable experience against a very strong side. The standard of golf across all matches was exceptional and every player should be proud of their efforts. It was also fantastic to see the support from all team members, with those not playing out there cheering on their teammates—something that truly reflects the spirit of this group.

I’m incredibly proud of every member of the team.
