We headed to Glenelg on a chilly morning to play Kooyonga. The weather soon warmed into a beautiful day and the team was in fine form, ready to face a tough opponent.
Ted – No. 1
Ted played in what has become his usual spot at No. 1 and was in fine form, going 4 up with some incredible golf. His opponent wasn’t giving up easily though and fought his way back into the match. Ted dug in, held his nerve, and closed out the match with a solid 3/2 victory.
Tyler – No. 2
Tyler showed true grit and determination in a hard-fought match. He went 3 down early but battled back valiantly and played the final eight holes only a few over par. He certainly didn’t make it easy for his opponent, eventually going down on the 17th hole, 2/1.
Ronnie – No. 3
This was Ronnie’s debut for Div 2 after coming through the ranks of Mac Shield. He has worked hard on his game and thoroughly deserved the recognition. Playing against an experienced opponent who had to give him eight shots, Ronnie was determined to make the most of the opportunity. Although some nerves were evident towards the end, Ronnie held on to secure a terrific 3/1 win.
Claire – No. 4
Claire was back in form this week and her determination is always impressive to watch. Focused and consistent, she never entertains the thought of losing. Claire had control of the match from the outset and never gave her opponent a glimmer of hope, winning convincingly 5/4.
Kianu – No. 5
Kianu played with confidence and produced some outstanding golf. His shot making was excellent and he never wavered throughout the round. He was the only player in the team required to give shots to his opponent, but that never fazed him. Kianu proved his selection was spot on with a resounding 6/5 victory.
This team continues to evolve and their camaraderie is a pleasure to watch. They show genuine team spirit, with those not selected still coming along to support their teammates. That’s what being part of a true team is all about.
Grange def Kooyonga 4/1
By Note
It was also pleasing to see Nick McCormack out on Sunday watching the team. He has been sorely missed at Grange. Keep up the good work Nick — we hope to see more of you around the club.
