On a warm clear day, the Women’s A3 team once again showed off the fabulous Grange polos in our match against West Lakes at Glenelg.
The course was in picture perfect condition and a credit to the host club.
The competition between the two clubs was neck-and-neck throughout the day, with the variance between players being up or down by no more than a couple.
Sue Dob played a solid par front nine and battled valiantly against her opponent Michelle Beeby, but was pipped in the end 2-1.
Sue Olsen may have been disappointed not to win, but her match against Gail Beaumont was a good hard-fought competition and ended squared.
You will always find Louise Faint striding from the tee with purpose and she kept her strong form going, powering on for a 2-up win against Di Biebrick.
Sharyn Simes played her first pennant game this season and will be happy with this one under her belt. Sharyn couldn’t get into her normal rhythm and went down to Heather Periera 3-2.
It was a first A grade pennant game for Jess Woods and even though she went down to Amy Anderson 2-1, Jess played a solid, steady match and should not be too disappointed.
Sadly, West Lakes were victors, beating Grange 3.5 to 1.5.
This week’s support team of Claire, Deb, Paul, Jo and David were once again a great help for our players. Thank you.
Next week’s match against Glenelg shapes as a big one, with both clubs needing to secure the win to position their team in the top three with only one match to follow. Playing at Kooyonga, I’m sure it will be a challenge we will enjoy.
