Firstly, I would once again like to thank each and every member of The Grange Golf Club for their continued patience and support during these extraordinary times. We have certainly come a long way from where we were 5-6 weeks ago, when we were potentially going to be forced to close down our entire facility and stand down some 60 staff, to where we are today still being able to play golf, whilst retaining most of our staff, and having our entire facility still open with certain restrictions, particularly in hospitality.
The Grange Golf Club has seen a slow but gradual return to some normality, recently moving from playing in groups of 2 to groups of 3, the reintroduction of competitions with the Pro Shop, the reopening of the practice fairway and putting greens etc, all with the primary consideration that the health and wellbeing of our members and staff was of paramount importance. In South Australia, now with 13 days in a row with zero COVID-19 cases, we have proven that we live in one of the best places in the world. However, as I have stated earlier, we cannot become complacent and I urge all members to be vigilant and adhere to social distancing requirements etc, all of which have been advised many times before.
With this in mind we now look towards further gradual changes at The Grange Golf Club and I advise members of the following:
Timesheets
We are excited to announce that we will commence playing golf in groups of four from Saturday 16th May 2020.
Tee times will be in 8 minute intervals but only from the first tee.
Note that the morning booking sheet (7:00am – 10:28am) will open tomorrow, Thursday 7th May at 9:00am and the afternoon booking sheet (10:36am – 3:00pm) will open tomorrow, Thursday 7th May at 9:30am for Saturday 16 May bookings. The flexibility of a 4-ball will hopefully allow for most members to get a game on their preferred day for the foreseeable future.
Once again however I would urge all members ensure that there are only a maximum of 2 groups around any tee at any one time. This will guarantee that the maximum of 10 people rule in any one area is still adhered to.
Office
The Administration office will re-open as of Monday 11th May for your convenience with entry and exit points specifically marked. Please adhere to social distancing requirements.
Takeaway Food & Beverage
Our takeaway food and beverage service will remain as is from the Clubhouse and the Catering Cart will continue operating every day on the course for member’s convenience.
MiScore APP
We highly recommend Members use the MiScore App during the COVID-19 crisis to mitigate contact between players, kiosk PC’s, and the handling and exchange of scorecards. Further information is available on The Grange Golf Club website and this App is now available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
COVIDSafe App
Members are encouraged to download the COVIDSafe app to help us get our golf club back to normal as quickly as possible. The COVIDSafe app speeds up contacting people exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19). This helps health officials support and protect you, your friends and family. The app is now available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Mental Health
Taking care of your mental health and wellbeing during coronavirus is important and support is available. For personal crisis and mental health support services you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636 at any time. Please visit the Australian Government website and go to the Emergency support and assistance page for information about additional services that can help you.
Conclusion
It has been well advertised over the news in the past week that the Prime Minister and Premier will be announcing the first phase of easing coronavirus restrictions soon and further decisions regarding any changes at the Club will be based on expert medical advice and Government recommendations. We will keep you informed of any such changes.
Please continue to enjoy your golf and most importantly stay safe.
Hoping to see you around The Grange Golf Club soon.
