The Junior Division 2 team made a long trek to Willunga in round six to play Westward Ho in chilly conditions. Willunga is a very tight course where strong course management skills were essential.<\/p>\n
Ted \u2013 No. 1<\/strong><\/p>\n Ted came up against a tough opponent, with only one shot separating their handicaps. It was a tight contest all day, with the lead changing multiple times. Ted stood on the final hole 1 down but showed great determination and skill to win the last hole in near-dark conditions, halving the match.<\/p>\n Tyler \u2013 No. 2<\/strong><\/p>\n Tyler played in his usual position and produced some exceptional golf. It was a hard-fought match, with his opponent matching him throughout. However, Tyler proved too strong and secured a solid 3 & 2 victory.<\/p>\n Victor \u2013 No. 3<\/strong><\/p>\n Victor made his debut and faced his former club, which was always going to be a challenge. He fought hard, played some excellent golf, and maintained a positive attitude throughout. Despite his efforts, his opponent gained the upper hand and Victor went down 4 & 3.<\/p>\n Kianu \u2013 No. 4<\/strong><\/p>\n Due to course ratings, Kianu moved to No. 4 this week and stepped up superbly. He remained focused and composed, not allowing anything to distract him. Playing on an unfamiliar course, he delivered another strong performance to win convincingly 5 & 3.<\/p>\n Claire – No. 5<\/strong><\/p>\n Claire faced the toughest challenge of the day, conceding 22 shots to an opponent who was consistently reaching par 4s in regulation. Not even an unfortunate rules call affected her determination, and she battled all the way to the 18th, eventually going down just 1 hole. A tremendous effort.<\/p>\n Final Result: Match Squared<\/strong><\/p>\n It was a very challenging day, with a late start and a finish in near darkness. Despite the conditions, our young team conducted themselves admirably\u2014never a complaint, and a credit to the club.<\/p>\n
