I was always sporty – although it was more horses, sailing and tennis. My husband had been trying to get me into golf for years and as some friends were transitioning from tennis to golf, I thought I would give it a go. To my delight I found that it challenged you mentally as well as being as active as you want it to be.

What is your favourite hole on the golf courses and the hole you just can’t seem to master?

The 13th East. I used to dread it but now it’s a challenge to try and par it (or better of course!)

Ha ha – all the other holes on both courses – they are all ‘work in progress’!!

What has been the highlight in your golfing journey to date?

My husband and I have taken our ‘sticks’ on overseas holidays and the South Island of New Zealand was special. The tricky golf courses but with stunning scenery was amazing.

What is your go to lunch order in the Bistro/Grilled @ Grange?

Anything with smoked salmon – but mostly it’s a light lunch of tomato bruschetta with smoked salmon.

What do you do with yourself outside the golf club?

3 other golf buddies at the Club and I are actively learning/relearning French. We get together after our golf to read, speak and improve our language skills – another work in progress!

I also run a book club with friends which meets over coffee and cake!

Travel with my husband as well as golf buddies.

Dead or alive, who would you most like to meet?

I don’t have anyone special I’d like to meet however, I do like to meet anyone outstanding in their field, especially in the science and industry arenas. I like to try to understand the process of their discoveries and innovations and the inter-relationships with other fields of endeavour.

Favourite memory you have had at the golf club?

Being part of the organising team of volunteers for the Australian Women’s Golf at Grange. What a fabulous team spirit. We worked exceptionally long hours (5:30am to 11:00pm on the longest day!!). The buzz around the Club was infectious as all our members wanted to make it a huge success – which it was. The volunteer organising Committee still exists – although it is for long lunches and golfing holidays together!

What’s the best score you have ever shot at Grange?

38 (it was a while ago!)

What motivated you to join The Grange Golf Committee?

I thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Women’s Committee and as Women’s President and so for me it was a natural progression to continue contributing to the Club and work more broadly across the range of responsibilities for members. There is a special feeling about contributing to the success of this organisation.

What do you love about The Grange Golf Club?

The people – isn’t it always about the people? They are who make the great welcoming atmosphere at the Club and enjoyment around the various Club events. How lucky are we!

Learn more about newly elected Committee Member Elizabeth Warhurst.

What sparked your interest in golf and when did you join The Grange …
