Members, since my last update some 20 days ago, we have all witnessed a return to some sort of normality in our lives with the easing of various restrictions originally imposed by the Government to help to stop the spread of coronavirus in the community.  I take this opportunity to congratulate all members of The Grange Golf Club (GGC) for their patience and understanding throughout these unprecedented times.  Your cooperation, by adhering to the rules, has enabled us to continue to play golf in the company of our playing partners, has ensured that Warren and his team in the pro-shop have been permitted to continue to trade and also allowed Chef Dave to provide members with some fabulous, and very popular, take home meals.

Our journey at the GGC has been a slow, gradual and calculated approach to a return to pre COVID-19 conditions with the primary consideration always being the health and wellbeing of our members and staff.  As we move forward, with the easing of further restrictions from Monday 1st June as announced by the Premier on 25th May, the next changes at the GGC will be as follows:

Timesheets

We are pleased to announce that we will return to a 2-Tee start on Saturdays (both courses) from Saturday 6th June 2020 and on Wednesdays (1 course) from Wednesday 10th June 2020.  Tee times will also return to 7 minute intervals.

  • Bookings will open for Saturday 6th June times on Thursday 28th May at 9.00am for the morning sheet and 9.30am for the afternoon sheet.
  • Bookings will open for Wednesday 10th June on Tuesday 2nd June at 9.30am for all times.

Here in South Australia we are in an excellent position with respect to coronavirus control at the moment.  However, with the talk of a potential second wave of infections, I would urge all members to continue to be vigilant and adhere to social distancing requirements etc. all of which you have done so well to date.

Hospitality

With the government announcing further easing of restrictions, the GGC is now permitted to have up to 80 patrons at the Club at any one time.  This does not include staff and areas can be inside or outside the Club with details as follows:

  • Up to 20 people are allowed in each enclosed “separate area” within the Club, providing the 4m2 per person rule is used to calculate each area’s capacity and the 1.5m social distancing obligations are met by patrons
  • The 4 “areas” will be: Members Lounge, Beeston Lounge, Balcony Extension/Northern balcony side, First Tee (Grange Dance Floor).
  • Staffed areas are not considered part of the capacity calculation, eg. Behind the bar
  • Patrons in all areas must be seated
  • Patrons will be permitted to consume alcohol without a meal, but they must remain seated
  • Bar service will be permitted, however drinks must be consumed away from the bar and while seated

With the easing of these restrictions we encourage members to come back upstairs in the Clubhouse after golf and enjoy the Club’s hospitality.

MiScore App & Pace of Play

It has been great to see many members take the opportunity to use the Miscore app with around a 40% participation rate.  The app allows members to mark their partners score without the use of a physical scorecard.  Included in the app is a GPS feature which provides distances to pin and course guide.  Another handy feature is the pace of play, which tells the player how long the round has been.  On that note, with the timesheets being so full it has been positive that members are playing at a respectable pace with most rounds taking 4 hours or less.  If you have not downloaded the app I encourage you to do so via the App Store on Apple phones or the Google Play Store on Android phones.

I thank members in advance for their cooperation and will update you all as more information comes to hand and further restrictions are eased.
